Is it Easy to Get Irish Citizenship?
Just like any other country, there are rules and regulations for becoming an Irish citizen. In the past, the two main ways to establish Irish citizenship were through naturalization or ancestry. If you aren't Irish, you won't be able to apply through ancestry. Becoming a citizen through naturalization takes quite a bit longer. To establish citizenship through naturalization, you need to first prove “reckonable residence”.
To prove this, you must live in Ireland for at least five out of the last nine years. You can live there on and off over the course of these years, but you must live in the country for one year prior to applying. You must also live in the country for a minimum of 1,460 days total in the last eight years. What if you don't want to wait years?

The Irish government introduced the Immigrant Investor Program (IIP) in 2012 to encourage business professionals and investors from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) to invest and locate their business interests in Ireland. The program, also known as the Irish Golden Visa, permits eligible candidates to acquire residency status in Ireland.
